Flood is an any coverage beater! It’s great against zone, great against man. This is one of my favorite passing concepts for 7v7. If the center is eligible or your league has no shield / blocker the C will a spot route- breaking left. Below is a breakdown of the Flood Passing Concept out of Trips.

Flood Passing Concept out of Trips

1: Snag route / spot route.
3: Flat route.
2: Quick out route- 3 yard stem.
4: Deep out route- 10-12 yard out.
5: Vertical.

QB Read: 5 to 4 to 2. Most of the time, the 4 will come open because the 2 breaks to the out first, forcing the underneath defender to drive on the route and creating space behind them.

The Flood Concept is effective because it stretches one side of the defense vertically by placing three receivers at different depths. This creates a high-low read for the quarterback and forces zone defenders to choose which route to cover. If the deep defender carries the vertical route, the intermediate route usually opens underneath. If the underneath defender gains depth, the flat becomes an easy completion.

Flood is also versatile and works from multiple formations, personnel groupings, and motions. It is especially effective with sprint-out or play-action because it gets the quarterback on the move, shortens the throw, and puts pressure on the defense to communicate and adjust. It gives the quarterback a clear progression while creating opportunities for easy completions and explosive plays.
