The Drive Passing Concept for 7v7 Flag football is one of the most versatile concepts in flag football- it works against almost everything! It’s what I call an any coverage beater!

If you’re looking for one passing concept that consistently moves the chains, creates easy reads for your quarterback, and works against multiple coverages, the Drive Passing Concept should be a staple in your offense. Simple, effective, and extremely versatile—Drive is one of the most reliable ways to keep your offense on schedule and stress any defense you face.
1: Under route- no more than 3 yards of depth.
2: Dig route- 10 yard stem.
3: Swing left (fake handoff).
4: Post route- 8 yard stem.
5: Outside release, get vertical.
QB Read: 2 to 1 to 4. This can change based on matchup.
This is core passing concept featured in my 2×2 Attack System Playbook for 7v7 Flag Football.

Why the Drive Passing Concept Works
1. Easy Quarterback Reads
Drive simplifies things for your QB
- Read the shallow first.
- If it’s covered, move to the dig behind it.
It’s a quick progression that builds confidence and keeps the offense moving.
2. Great Against Man Coverage
The shallow cross is tough to defend in man:
- Forces defenders to chase across the field.
- Creates natural separation.
- Can lead to run-after-catch opportunities.
If your receiver wins across the formation, it can turn into a big gain quickly.
3. Attacks Zone Coverage
Against zone, Drive finds the soft spots:
- The shallow pulls underneath defenders.
- The dig settles into open space behind them.
This creates a natural window your QB can hit consistently.
Against cover 2: the 4 and 2 will most likely be open. The 1 one should sit between the hook and curl defenders. The Drive Passing Concept is highly effective against man, Cover 2, and Cover 3 because it creates separation underneath and stresses defenders with a high-low read.
